Arcane Energy ApS ("Arcane", "we") operates the website arcane.energy. This page explains what we collect when you visit, why, and how to reach us about it.

How we count visitors

By default, we record an anonymous row for each page you load. It contains only:

  • The page path you visited (e.g. /career) and the timestamp
  • The website that referred you, if any (host only — e.g. linkedin.com)
  • UTM parameters present in the URL
  • Your country (derived from your IP address, never stored)
  • Your browser, operating system, and device type at family level (e.g. "Chrome / Windows / desktop")
  • Your browser's language

Nothing is stored on your device in this default mode — no cookies, no localStorage, no fingerprinting. Two visits from you will not be linked. Under EU/UK law this counts as anonymous statistical data and does not require a cookie banner.

If you opt in to full analytics

You can choose to help us with richer data using the controls below. If you do, we additionally record:

  • A randomly generated visitor ID and session ID, stored in your browser's localStorage on arcane.energy
  • The full referrer URL, your city (from IP), screen size, and a daily-rotating SHA-256 hash of your IP address (never the IP itself)
  • How long you spend on each page

We use this to understand how visitors navigate the site across multiple pages and visits. We never sell, share, or transfer this data, and we use no third-party analytics, advertising, or social-media trackers.

Your choice

You can opt out of all tracking — even the anonymous baseline — at any time, or opt in to full analytics, right here:

Where it's stored

On a Microsoft Azure Database for PostgreSQL instance hosted in the EU, accessible only to Arcane Energy staff. The Azure infrastructure is operated by Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd.

How long we keep it

Pageview rows are automatically deleted 12 months after they are recorded.

Your rights (EU/UK GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you, restrict how we process it, and lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of these, email it@arcane.energy. Because anonymous rows contain no identifier, identifying your data may require a recent timestamp and IP from you. If you are opted into full analytics, your visitor ID (visible in your browser's localStorage under aev_visitor) lets us locate your data exactly.

Legal basis

Anonymous analytics are processed under our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding the reach of our website, balanced against your right to opt out. Full analytics are processed only with your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.

Changes to this page

If we materially change how we process visitor data, we'll update the date at the top.
